KEHS Dental Society Walkathon For Mouth Cancer


If it was not for our interest in pursuing dentistry, none of us would know how prevalent oral cancer is in our world. This is shocking considering around 7 people lose their life to mouth cancer everyday in the UK and in the last 12 months 145,000 people worldwide have died from this terrible disease. The latest UK mouth cancer statistics also demonstrate how essential it is for mouth cancer awareness to increase. A poll by the Oral Health Foundation found that 80% of people do not even know the symptoms of mouth cancer. That is why we decided to do something about it by taking on a marathon walk for Mouth Cancer Action. Mouth Cancer Action is a charity campaign ran by the Oral Health Foundation aimed at raising awareness of mouth cancer and highlighting the devastating effect it can have on sufferers and their families.
